What is Uencounter.me?
Uencounter.me is a Virtual Pin Map with social elements. Taking the concept of map and tack from the wall to the web, it was born from an innate curiosity of the interwoven universe in which we reside; the serendipitous nature of our lives, a life time of memories, and a desire to see it in a visual format.
Uencounter.me shall be the leading web destination to enable users to find and connect with each other based on shared past encounters, to map and overlay life encounters, and to facilitate expressions of gratitude to individuals that positively impacted a user's life. By providing an entertaining forum and useful tools, Uencounter.me serendipitously allows people to help find people while mapping their memories.
The Founding Team:
We are three entrepreneurs with unique talent and vision who came together for the common goal of visually representing our individual and collective memories. We value integrity, honesty, and transparency. We thrive on the idea of operating a venue that fosters gratitude and opens the door for interpersonal connection not based on daily activities, but on those moments in life that are and have been meaningful.
Using the Virtual Pin Map
Pin maps are traditionally used to track something of interest; travel, favorite places, clients, customers, memberships, ancestry/genealogy, virtually anything that one has an interest in identifying from a geo-location perspective.
In addition to serving traditional elements of pins in a map, the platform at uencounter.me utilizes Web 2.0 social interaction capabilities and serves additional capacities:
People helping people find one another using geographic and date specific criteria
Uencounter.me taps into the power of "people helping people find people" using geographic location and date of encounters. Users may create "encounter-points" of past experiences and interactions, and post "find inquiries" of people they are searching for, but do not know current contact information or full name. The application shall search all posted encounter-points and identify potential connections. If a connection is not automatically identified, the find-inquiry remains open and another user may assist making a connection as they peruse inquiries related to their shared encounters.
People are innately curiosity about events, people, and interactions that have happened at some point in the past. uencounter.me seeks to serve users who look for the answer to questions such as... "I wonder whatever happened to...?" or "Remember when we met....".
Facilitating expression of gratitude and forgiveness
Users may create, post and/or send an "encountergram", a message to a specific person with the sole purpose of expressing gratitude or forgiveness. Currently, someone seeking to express thanks or gratitude must know how to specifically contact the recipient. Again, using geographic and date specific information, Uencounter.me enables users to create and post encountergrams to individuals without remembering or ever knowing a full name.
The intent of an encountergram is to express gratitude or forgiveness and trust that the intended recipient, or someone that knows them, recognizes the encountergram and assists in making a connection. The goal may not necessarily be to establish and maintain an ongoing relationship but simply to convey appreciation, forgive, or ask for forgiveness.
Uencounter.me encourages individuals to express their appreciation/gratitude/thankfulness toward other people that they have encountered during their life. In doing so, uencounter.me becomes a social platform for positive expression and exchange. Every single one of us has someone from our past that deserves our gratitude for something that we were only able to appreciate in retrospect. Examples include: old friends, teachers, first responders, a good Samaritan, a nurse, old neighbors, or even someone who has already passed away.
At uencounter, we take personal privacy very seriously. Most of the information entered references somebody, someplace, or something that is in the past and we caution users when using current information, to do so wisely (such as current address/location).
We value the feedback that our users offer and seek to provide the best user experience possible. As such, if you have a constructive thought about how we can make uencounter.me better, please feel free to leave comments via our "Give Feedback" tab and know that it will be considered in earnest.
