Donner Pass

Jun 5th, 2004
Driving from Reno to somewhere in Cali, stopped for a photo op at Donner Pass. It was pretty cool driving through those mountains and thinking of people coming across them in the dead of winter. Harsh times.

Urubamba, PE

This morning we trained from Ollantaytambo train station to Aguas Calientes in 2nd class seats, pretty comfy all told! Then we were brought by motor coach to Machu Picchu, Lost City of the Incas. Even by bus there is still about a 2 hour hike (going a bit slow paced and getting air when needed)Â

On the way to Cusco we also visited the ruins of Sillustani, Raqchi and its famous temple, and Andahuaylillas and its Sistine Chapel of Latin America. Other points of interest were Plaza de Armas, Cuzco Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun. Visit four archaeological sites near Cuzco: the walled complex of Sacsayhuaman, the Q’enqo Labyrinth, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay.
